Frequently Asked Questions
Check answers to the most commonly asked questions.
General
Can I mix new and old batteries? Never mix new and old batteries. It will lower performance generally and raise the risk of battery leaks or ruptures. We advise changing all of a device's batteries.
Can I mix different battery types? No, because each type of battery is made for a specific job. Putting a silver-oxide battery and a zinc-air battery together won't make the gadget work better. It will actually slow things down and might even break your device or cause the battery to leak or burst. Also, don't put batteries from different brands together in the same gadget. This will lower the general performance and could also lead to the battery leaking or breaking. We suggest that you use the same kind of batteries in each gadget.
Do I need to change all the batteries at the same time? It is best to change all the batteries of the device at the same time. A partly used battery will drain the power from a new one, making less power available overall.
Can I recharge any battery? A battery can only be recharged if it is clearly marked as "rechargeable." Recharging a non-rechargeable battery may rupture or leak, resulting in personal injury.
How Should I Dispose of Batteries? All batteries, rechargeable and non-rechargeable, should be recycled. Other batteries can and should be recycled, too.
How can I get more life out of my batteries? Here are some suggestions to help extend the life of your batteries: 1. Turn off battery-powered devices when not in use. 2. Remove the batteries from devices that will not be used for a while. 3. Keep your batteries in a dry place at room temperature without the contacts touching.
When should I remove the batteries from my device? Remove batteries from devices/equipment when: 1. The device will not be used for several weeks. 2. The batteries are worn out (to avoid potential damage from battery leakage). 3. The device is powered by an external source.
Is temperature a factor in battery performance? We recommend keeping batteries at room temperature in a dry place. Extreme heat or cold can degrade battery performance. Avoid placing battery-powered devices in extremely warm environments. In addition, refrigeration is not required or recommended.
Should I clean the battery compartment? Maintain cleanliness of battery contact surfaces and battery compartment contacts for optimal performance. Every time you replace batteries, rub them with a clean pencil rubber or cloth.
Do all batteries last same amount of time? No, because the type and amount of materials used to make batteries determines how long they last and how much power they produce.
Do you sell mercury batteries? No, we do not offer mercury oxide batteries since mercury cells are forbidden under international legislation and environmental laws. However, we produce mercury-free drop-in replacement batteries to keep these vintage devices operational.
Technical
What is the difference between zinc-air and alkaline? Zinc-air and alkaline batteries use different chemistry to achieve optimal performance in various devices. Zinc-air batteries, which have a high energy density and a stable voltage output, are commonly available in coin sizes for use in specific devices, such as film camera.
What is the difference between zinc-air and silver-oxide? Zinc-air and silver-oxide batteries use different chemistry to achieve peak performance in a variety of applications. Both types of batteries provide a consistent voltage throughout their lifespan. Zinc-air batteries have higher energy density but lower voltage output (1.3V–1.4V), while silver-oxide batteries have a longer lifespan and does not requires activation.
Does the battery have mercury in it? No, mercury is not present in any ANALOG batteries, in line with The Mercury-Containing and Rechargeable Battery Act.
Do I have to modify my film camera to use your battery? Good news: no camera modifications are required to utilise our battery. Our drop-in replacement battery has the same voltage output and size as the obsolete mercury battery. Just fit the battery, and the camera is ready to shoot.
Safety
Which way does the + and - go? Please follow your equipment's instructions for proper battery insertion, making sure the + (plus) and - (minus) terminals are correctly aligned. CAUTION: Some equipment that uses three or more batteries may appear to work properly even if one of the batteries is inserted incorrectly; however, this usage may result in battery leakage or rupture, which could cause equipment damage.
Can I set a battery on fire? NEVER light or dispose of batteries in a fire; they can explode, rupture, and pose a safety risk.
Why should I keep batteries out of the reach of kids? Little ones should not play with batteries. Batteries are designed to power devices, not to be played with individually. Remember that, while batteries are widely used, they generate portable power through powerful chemical reactions. Batteries should not be disassembled, abused, mishandled, or used as toys. Although most batteries contain chemicals that are safe for exposed skin, they should be treated as any other chemical. Always exercise caution when working with exposed battery chemicals. Battery chemicals should not be used near the eyes or consumed. If this happens, seek medical attention right away. To ensure safety, children's use of batteries should be closely monitored by a responsible adult.
How should I handle leaking batteries in a device? Although most batteries contain chemicals that are safe for exposed skin, they should be treated as any other chemical. Always exercise caution when working with exposed battery chemicals. Battery chemicals should not be used near the eyes or consumed. If this happens, seek medical attention right away.
Can I disassemble a battery? No, do not disassemble batteries. When a battery is disassembled, contact with the components might be hazardous and result in physical injury or fire.
Is it usual for a battery to become warm in my pocket? No, batteries should not get heated while not in use. We print a notice on our package reminding customers not to carry or keep batteries unsecured in their pocket or handbag. Contact with metal items can cause them to short out and leak or explode, resulting in physical harm.
